Supplements

The Village Osteopath is now offering an array of nutritional supplements.  Listed below are some of the many benefits that the supplements we offer provide.

B-12 Methylcobalamin is more active and better absorbed than other forms of B-12 such as cyanocobalamin.  Methylcobalamin has been shown to protect nerve tissue and brain cells as well as promote better sleep patterns.  Mehtylcobalmin has also been shown to promote normal eye function. Folic Acid along with B-12, is required for synthesis of DNA.  Some symptoms of B-12 deficiency include numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, impaired walking, impaired reflexes, vision abnormalities, difficulty concentrating, irritability, depression, tiredness, and confusion.

DHEA is produced in the adrenal glands from pregenolone and converts into testosterone, estrone ( a form of estrogen) and estradiol (a form of estrogen).  With aging our DHEA levels decrease therefore, resulting in decreased testosterone and estrogen.  Symptoms of decreased estrogen include hot flashes, osteoporosis, and vaginal irritation (especially Vaginal dryness).   Signs of decreased testosterone include decreased sexual drive, erectile dysfunction, hair loss, infertility, osteoporosis, sleep disturbances and hot flashes.

Bone Maximizer III offers a superior source of calcium and related bone-building compounds for those who wish to support bone health throughout the life cycle.  The Bone Maximizer III product offered at the Village Osteopath contains microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite Concentrate (MCHC).  Clinical studies have shown that MCHC is superior to calcium carbonate in supporting bone health. Active MCHC is derived soley from free-range, grass-fed cattle and provides whole bone proteins, peptides and other ORGANIC components to support healthy bone structure.  Symptoms of poor bone health include; osteoporosis, muscle cramps, poor appetite, mental confusion, numbness and tingling in the fingers and toes, convulsions and even death.

Vitamin D3-5(Cholecalciferol) acquires hormone-like actions when cholecalciferol  is converted to 1,25 dihydroxy Vitamin D3 (Calcitriol) by the liver and kidneys.  As a hormone, Calcitriol controls phosphorus, calcium and bone metabolism and neuromuscular function. Vitamin D3 is the only vitamin the body can manufacture from sunlight (UVB). Low Vitamin D3 can result in depression, back pain, poor bone health, and decreased cognitive functioning.

Cortisol Manager is a stress hormone stabilizer that combines stress-reducing ingredients and cortisol- lowering botanicals to help reduce stress and relieve occasional sleeplessness.  This safe, natural and non-habit forming formula increases the ability to fall asleep, stay asleep and will not cause morning grogginess, while providing all-day stress reduction.

Iron Complex features liquid liver fractions, a rich source of heme iron.  Heme iron is the most easily absorbed form of iron, and does not cause side effects such as nausea. Iron Complex also includes other factors known to increase absorption and promote healthy red blood cells. Some symptoms related to low iron include; increased fatigue, weakness, paleness, headaches, brittle nails, poor wound healing, fragile bones, unusual craving for non-food substances, excessive menstrual bleeding, rapid heartbeat, and cold hands and feet.

Melatonin is a natural hormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain. Closely involved in the natural sleep cycle, Melatonin can help support restful sleep patterns. Studies indicate Melatonin may be appropriate for people experiencing occasional sleeplessness, those with jet lag or those wanting to promote sound, quality sleep.
